Cannot create shortcut on desktop Windows XP

If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system.

To resolve this issue, use Registry Editor to verify that the registry key listed below has the value listed, and if needed, edit the value to match the value listed.

Registry key:


   HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.lnk\ShellNew\Command

                               



Value for Command:


   RunDLL32 AppWiz.Cpl,NewLinkHere %2

                               



NOTE: If the Windows Desktop Update component is not installed on your computer, the following is the value for Command:


   RunDLL32 AppWiz.Cpl,NewLinkHere %1

If there are folder name rundll32.exe under Windows (Root of Windows), it will also need able to create shortcut on desktop
