I have three Nokia Lumia phones on my hand (Nokia 636, 525 and 520). Two of them (520 and 525) already install Windows 10 Insider Preview for a long time ago and keep receive update to taste the Windows 10 Mobile in the first place.
It is good to see the Windows 10 Mobile release to old Lumia phone for production finally, I feel luck that my Nokia 636 able to upgrade, but my 520 and 525 cannot.
After few days using the Windows 10 Mobile on Nokia 636, it is better user experience than using the Insider Preview on 520 and 525. (Hopefully, Microsoft will get some promotion for those Windows Phone 7/8.1 users to replace their Phone to Native Windows 10 phone)
To upgrade your Windows 8.1 phone to Windows 10 mobile (Please check your phone on the upgrade list*), please follow the following steps:
Please connect WiFi before upgrade and also make a backup of your phone.
1. Go to "Windows Store" to download "Upgrade Advisor"
2. After install the "Upgrade Advisor", run this apps and then click "Next"
3. Waiting for the upgrade checking:
4. Select the option "Activate Windows 10 Upgrade" and then click "Next"
5. Waiting for the Upgrade scan complete.
6. Click "Finish"
7. When you back to "Start" screen, you will receive a notification about "Upgrade" is available (If you did not see it, please click the "Configuration" icon to enter the upgrade menu
8. Click the "Upgrade available" item in the notification menu
9. Click "Download"
If you click the details, you will see the information at the following:
10. Just waiting for the download complete and get ready to install. (It takes almost TWO hours)
11. Click "Install" (Please connect your power supply and also make the backup before upgrade)
12. Accept the Microsoft Service agreement and then wait for the other hours.
After the upgrade complete, there are some error in the notification.
Some minor issue like the screen capture did not work.
You need to click the check phone update again to upgrade the phone from 10.0.10586.107 to 10.0.10586.164
It will take you the other hours, but it is worth to wait.
The new Twitter apps on Windows 10 mobile is one of the good apps in the year.
