install Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 on DELL Optiplex 790

Install the driver in the following order:

1. SATA (Install.Net 3.5.1 before install the SATA driver -> Go to "Server Manager" - "Feature" - add feature .Net framework 3.5.1) (Download from Intel.com - Intel RST 10.1.0.1008)
2. LAN (Install SNMP before install the driver -> Go to "Server Manager" - "Feature" - add feature SNMP) (Download from Intel.com - 82579 LAN card)
3. Chipset (Download from Intel.com - Intel Chipset software 9.2)
4. USB (Donwload from Dell.com - Windows 7 64bits)
5. PCI-E (Download from Dell.com - Windows 7 64bits)
6. AMT (Download from Dell.com - Windows 7 64bits)

Install .Net framework 4 and run windows update to update all the patch.

Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 + Intel RST 10 error (IAStorUI has stopped working/services not run)

Solution:
Install .Net framework 3.5.1 -> Go to "Server Manager" - "Feature" - add feature .Net framework 3.5.1 (keep default options is OK)

How to install Intel 82579LM onboard NIC (DELL Optiplex 790) driver to VMWare ESXi 4.1?

1. Go to download this two files http://www.vm-help.com/forum/download/file.php?id=614 and http://www.vm-help.com/forum/download/file.php?id=613

2. Use 7zip to unzip it. You will got a oem.tgz

3. Use the WinSCP to connect the ESXi (Use SCP protocol)

4. Go to the folder “bootbank”

5. Rename the file “oem.tgz” to “oem_old.tgz” and copy the file “oem.tgz” which is you just download and unzipped to the folder “/bootbank”.

6. Reboot the ESXi

7. The driver should be installed.

You will be allow to choose “save attachment”

Remote desktop login and disconnect the connection

When using the remote desktop to login a Windows XP, it will disconnect the network connection and the connection will be resume after few sec. But you will only see the windows login again.
