Huawei secure erase uses Multi-pass overwrite (3x), which is a recommended Purge method suggested by NIST SP 800-88 Rev. 1. The current NIST SP 800-88 Rev. 1 guidelines state that a single-pass overwrite is generally sufficient for purging data on modern hard disk drives (HDDs).
