Solution:

Check the Print Server driver is it out of date, plan to upgrade to the latest one.

Print Server - Setting Notifications

When you create or modify a filter, you have the option of sending an automatic e-mail notification to someone or running a script when the conditions of the filter are met. This is useful for resolving printer problems, particularly in an organization with multiple buildings and administrators.

For example, you can set up a view of all printers managed by a particular print server where the status does not equal Ready. Then, if a printer changes from the Ready status to another status, the administrator could receive a notification e-mail from Print Management.

In addition to setting notifications on a custom set of printers, you can set notifications on printer server objects. For example, if the server is offline, or the spooler goes down, an e-mail notification can be sent.

How to solve the IE 11 connect to Windows Server 2008 R2 Internet printing – the “connect” buttom is missing and cannot install printer via IPP

(Printer Server) The specified location does not contain the driver for the requested processor architecture

When you try to install a 32bits printer driver to the additional driver of a 64bits Windows Server 2008/R2. You got the following errors:

The specified location does not contain the driver for the requested processor architecture

Solution:
Install the same type of the 32bits and 64bits driver of the printer.

e.g. You need to install a HP LaserJet 5200 on a 64bits Windows Server 2008/R2
You need to download the same type of the 32bits and 64bits.

If you want to install the PCL6, you need to install the following two drivers.
HP LaserJet 5200 PCL 6 Driver and HP LaserJet 5200 PCL6 64-bit Driver
Both of the printer drivers (32bits and 64bits) are PCL6.

You cannot install one is PCL 6 and the other is PCL5 or PS....

Setup 64bits print server for 32bits client

When setup a 64bits print server, don’t forget to add the 32bits driver to the print server, otherwise, the 32bits client will prompt to install driver when mapping print query from this server.

How to cancel a print job that hangs under Vista and XP

Method 1

First, you have to stop the Print Spooler Service for this go to Start, then Run and type in services.msc. Scroll down to the Print Spooler service, right-click on it and choose Stop then you have to delete all files under C:\WINDOWS\System32\spool\PRINTERS. Once you’ve restarted the Spooler Service, you might have to press F5 in the print queue applet to make the hanging print job disappear

Method 2

1. Cancel the job (it then hangs at the ‘Deleting – Printing’ stage)

2. At the command prompt, enter: net stop spooler

3. Then enter: net start spooler

4. Bref F5 to refresh the status of the print queue
